Since its establishment in 1937, Daewoo's products represent the development
level of Republic of Korea's machinery industry. In the field of diesel
engines, earthmovers, vehicles, automatic machine tools, robots, and more,
it has achieved world recognized accomplishments. DHI cooperated with an Australian in making marine engines since 1958, and with German Man GmbH
in developing a heavy duty diesel engine series in 1975. In 1990, Daewoo
launched its factory in Europe, in 1994, it established Daewoo Heavy
Industry (Yantai) Co., Ltd. In 1996, it established Daewoo Heavy Industry
(USA) Co., Ltd. Daewoo diesel engines are widely used for defense, aircrafts,
vehicles, marine, construction, and genset industries, and has received world
wide recognition for the superior features of its products, like small size,
low noise, fuel economy and reliability.
